Providing a platform for citizens to express their needs and concerns regarding key issues, OCAN aims to be a civil society entity that cannot be ignored. Its strength will lie in its forensic capability, constructive community role, healthy relationships and a large and diverse supporter base.
If you subscribe to OCAN’s ideals and purpose, we kindly request you to register as an OCAN-supporter at no cost. Supporters are at liberty to make monthly financial contributions, but it is not compulsory.
By joining OCAN, you will have the opportunity to participate in pulse surveys and flash polls regarding key issues.

Your contribution will have a lasting impact. By donating to OCAN, you will help fund the essential work we do to drive transparency, accountability, and good governance within the Overstrand Municipality.
Funding Requirements
OCAN’s initial funding requirements centre around cost related to start-up formalities (CIPC-registration, website design, database design, bank charges). There will be instances when OCAN will require access to information withheld from the public eye. This will require PAIA (Promotion of Access to Information Act) – applications, which have cost implications.
Acting upon advice, OCAN will institute legal action in respect of matters pertaining to its purpose and objectives. For this reason, it will be necessary to establish a financial reserve that will allow OCAN to launch PAIA-applications, or to retain legal counsel. OCAN will rely on sponsorships and donations by residents and associated interest groups across the Overstrand. In certain cases, OCAN will launch specific requests for crowdfunding.
